In 2000, the World Wide Fund for Nature sued World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc. in the United Kingdom for various violations of the 1994 agreement. The Court of Appeal accepted that the promotion company had violated the 1994 agreement, particularly with respect to merchandising. On May 5, 2002, the company launched its “Get The F Out” marketing campaign and changed all references on its site from “WWF” to “WWE,” while the URL went from WWF.com to WWE.com. The next day, a press release announced the official name change of World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. to World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. or WWE, and the change was released later that day during a Raw television show broadcast by the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut. After the name change, the use of wwf`s “Scratch” logo was banned on all WWE features.
